HOW DID REACHING IVY GROW WITH A MUSIC CLASS
 TO INCLUDE THERAPY?

Reaching Ivy was established for the purpose of connecting children and their grown-ups to grow in a way that is affirming, supportive, and containing the balance of life using music through our Music Together program & Telehealth Music Therapy. Family, whether present in support or estranged is a powerful part of growing as a human in vital aspects of our lives to know there is a connection that has been affected. When that family invites each other with music to strengthen, protect, and elicit a healthy connection they are moving forward as a family.
When that expected connection of unconditional love, regard, and reciprocal communication is
found to be disengaged due to varied factors that are
powering the human spirit music can be met like an old familiar friend to acknowledge & build connection together. Rose, the leading board-certified music therapist(MT-BC) of Reaching Ivy, LLC who can be found on the music therapist search at http://www.cbmt.org/ will work with you to discover what your connection with music is and apply those discoveries into simple, practical, and creative expressions in your day to day. Rose is trauma-informed & trained, multiculturally aware, and an old soul. When working with children her approach is to listen to what they are communicating with words & vocalizations, their behaviors, and specifically in the music.

HOW IS MUSIC THERAPY RECOGNIZED?

Music Therapy is recognized at the national level when a trained & educated music therapist passes the board-certification exam for Music Therapy. From then, each state recognizes music therapists with an understanding on what umbrella music therapy is categorized. Both the Department of Health & Human Services & the Board of Education in Nebraska do not recognize music therapists.
Due to the state of Nebraska not recognizing MT-BC currently (2020-2021) as a licensed provider conducting
mental health therapy/counseling Rose can facilitate individual and group sessions out of pocket with a focus on enriching, enhancing, and supporting coping skills for children, adolescents, young adults, and older adults.
Nebraska requires therapists and counselors in Nebraska working in mental health to become licensed as a Mental Health Licensed Practitioner (LMHP) and a licensed
National Counselor (passing the NCE). This affects insurance accepting & verifying & recognizing music therapy as a prescribed therapy. For this reason, Reaching Ivy is not accepting insurance.
